Some like to dip biscuits in the tea, while others, prefer drinking tea without sugar. some enjoyes regular tea. some are the fans of spiced tea. considering the number of tea lovers. in india, many educated individualsinvest lakhs in buying tea franchisees and start their own business, while some earn a good amount from small tea stalls. that’s the story of tea. but have you ever wondered why tea is so popular in india. 

Because of it’s taste and it’s aroma. the aroma of tea is so enticing that it draws us even  from a distance. and if the taste set on our tongue. we like to drink that tea again and again. whether it is the taste of market or our home. if good spices and good tea leaves are mixed in tea. then we can make a very good masala tea on our own. 

Although spiced tea packets are easily available in the market.  but by using some few spices such as cardamom, black pepper powder, cloves, ginger and cinnamon to regular tea. you can prepare a delightful cup of masala tea at home. another essential element in tea is milk.

Tea leaves- 1/2 teaspoon

Milk- 1/2 cup

Water- 1/2 cup

Sugar- 1 teaspoon

Cardamom- 2

Cinnamon- 1 small piece

Ginger- 1 small piece

cloves- 2 or 3

black pepper- 1/8 teaspoon

How to make masala chai 

For masala chai. take a saucepan add sugar and let it caramelize. once the sugar melts, add water and wait until it starts to heat up. now add tea leaves bring it to boil. once the tea release their aroma and color add all the spices. reduce the heat and allow the spices to infuse their flavors into the tea. add the milk and let it simmer on low heat until tea develop a rich color and the aroma of spices. turn off the heat. strain tea using fine strainer. serve hot. serve the masala chai with indian mathri, cookies or any savoury snacks.  

Tips

When adding sugar to saucepan, it needs to be caramelized. be careful not to burn the sugar.
