How to make sama ki kheer

sama ki kheer

About litte millet kheer recipe

Samak rice, also known as Sama or Little Millet, is very tasty to eat. It is white in color and looks similar to mustard seeds, but it is slightly larger than mustard seeds. Sama is typically consumed during fasting. Various dishes like kheer, upma, and many others can be made from Sama.

Sama contains many nutritious elements that fulfill various requirements of our body. Sama kheer gets prepared quickly and does not take much time to cook.

Since millets offer countless benefits, the government is also promoting their use. Additionally, health-conscious individuals who prefer to eat less rice and wheat, or avoid them altogether, are increasingly focusing on incorporating millets into their diet.

Because millets are not only nutritious but also naturally gluten-free, they are an excellent source of fiber, protein, and minerals. They are suitable for everyone, from children to the elderly. Making Sama kheer is not a difficult task; anyone can prepare it. It is made just like rice kheer, but instead of rice, Sama is used.

It is not necessary to prepare this kheer only during fasting; it can be easily made on regular days as well. If you liked this recipe, please check out my other recipes by clicking on the link below.

How to make little millet kheer

  • Take a pan and heat milk in it. Wash the Sama thoroughly with water twice and soak it for 10-15 minutes. Once the milk starts boiling, drain the soaked Sama and add it to the boiling milk. Let it cook on low flame. After about 10 minutes, check if the Sama has softened and cooked completely. If the Sama is soft, add sugar to the milk mixture and cook for a little longer so that the sugar dissolves well, and the milk thickens slightly. Add cardamom powder and chopped pistachios. Mix everything well. Turn off the flame and serve the Sama Kheer hot or cold, garnished with chopped pistachios.

Tips

You can directly add washed Sama to the boiling milk, but if you want to make the kheer tastier, lightly roast the Sama in ghee first. Then, add it to the milk and let it boil.

Feel free to add any dry fruits of your choice to the kheer to enhance its flavor.
