Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Once hot, add asafoetida (hing). Add finely chopped onions and sauté on medium flame for 10–15 minutes until golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook for another 10 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon soy sauce, mix well, and then add boiled peas. Incorporate all the spices: salt, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, Shahi Paneer masala, and Kitchen King masala. Mix thoroughly. Meanwhile, grate the paneer. Add the grated paneer to the mixture. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook on low flame for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. After 20 minutes, remove the lid, turn off the heat, and garnish with fresh coriander. Your delicious Paneer Bhurji is ready to serve.

Tips

To enhance the flavor of Paneer Bhurji, we have added 1 teaspoon of soy sauce. However, make sure to add the soy sauce only after the onions are thoroughly cooked; otherwise, the onions may start sticking to the pan.

FAQ

Can we add peas directly to the Bhurji?

No, peas should not be added directly to the Bhurji. Always use pre-boiled peas. If raw peas are added to the dish, they won’t cook properly, and the Bhurji may turn out unsatisfactory.

How to check the quality of Paneer?

To check the quality of paneer, take a small piece in your palm and try to roll it. If it forms a roll, the paneer is suitable for consumption. If it breaks and crumbles repeatedly, avoid using it, as it may not be good for health.

Variations

By following the Paneer Bhurji recipe, you can also make Egg Bhurji. Just keep a few things in mind, and you can prepare a very tasty Egg Bhurji.

Tips

While making Egg Bhurji, avoid adding soy sauce, Kitchen King masala, or Paneer masala. You can use egg curry masala if you wish, but it is optional and can be skipped. Even a simple Egg Bhurji prepared without these is delicious. Like Paneer Bhurji, you can serve it with chapati, bread, pav, or paratha for breakfast or lunch at any time.
