lauki chana dal healthy, tasty and simple recipe

Lauki chana dal

About lauki chana dal

Bottle Gourd Chana Dal is made by cooking bottle gourd with lentils. It’s a very simple dish that can be prepared quickly in a pressure cooker. Although bottle gourd is not everyone’s favorite, when cooked this way with chana dal, no one can say no to it.

Bottle Gourd Chana Dal can be served with rice, roti, or paratha. As for my preference, I absolutely love the taste of this dish and enjoy making it on weekends. When paired with a side dish like pickle or papad, nothing else is needed on the plate.

If bottle gourd is unavailable, you can also use round gourd (tinda) in its place. To truly enjoy Bottle Gourd Chana Dal, it needs to be a bit spicy.

For this, I have added green chilies to enhance the flavor. When making Bottle Gourd Chana Dal, always ensure the bottle gourd is fresh. Using spoiled bottle gourd can ruin the taste of the dal.

Bottle gourd can not only be used in dal but also in various dishes like bottle gourd kofta, fried bottle gourd, bottle gourd paratha, and more. While it may not be the most flavorful vegetable, it is incredibly beneficial for the body.

Bottle gourd is easy to digest and helps replenish water levels in the body during the summer. It also aids in relieving all stomach-related issues. Bottle gourd contains 92% water, which helps keep the body cool.

Bottle gourd contains all the essential nutrients required by the body, such as Vitamin C, folate, magnesium, and more. Its juice helps balance Vata, Pitta, and Kapha in the body.

Chana dal can be made simply, but by following a few key steps, you can prepare a delicious version of it. For instance, soaking chana dal beforehand ensures it cooks faster and better.
