Fruit custard

About fruit custard

Fruit custard is a very delicious and creamy dessert made by mixing custard powder. The variety of fruits added to the custard gives it an amazing flavor. Fruit custard can be enjoyed in any season, whether it’s winter or summer. In my fruit custard, I’ve used a mix of fruits like apples, grapes, bananas, chikoo, pomegranate, and more. You can choose the fruits as per your preference. Apart from fruits, I’ve also added dry fruits and cherries to the custard milk. Most custard powders in the market contain eggs, but here we are using eggless vanilla-flavored custard powder made from cornflour. It’s really easy to make, and with just a few simple steps, you can prepare a tasty fruit custard. Instead of buying custard from the market, you can easily make it at home. This sweet recipe is simple to make and even more amazing to eat. It can be prepared without any second thoughts for a children’s party or a family get-together. Besides custard, I make more sweet and intresting recipes like Seviyan Kheer, Rice Kheer, and Moong Dal Halwa.

How to make fruit custard

To prepare fruit custard, start by heating full-fat milk in a vessel. Once the milk comes to a boil, mix custard powder with a small amount of lukewarm milk in a separate bowl, ensuring there are no lumps. Add this custard mixture to the boiling milk and stir continuously with a spatula. Now, add cardamom powder, sugar, and a few saffron strands to the milk. Continue stirring until the sugar dissolves completely, and the milk thickens. Turn off the flame and let it cool.

Meanwhile, chop all the fruits (banana, apple, chikoo, pomegranate, and grapes) into small pieces. Add these fruits to the cooled custard milk. Mix in some dry fruits like cashews, raisins, and cherries. Serve the chilled fruit custard for a delightful dessert experience.

Tips

Always use full-fat milk to ensure a rich taste and texture in the custard.

Adjust the quantity of sugar according to your taste preferences.

Avoid cutting the fruits in advance to prevent them from turning black.

Ensure the custard milk is completely cooled before mixing in the fruits. Do not add fruits to warm milk.

Use any fruits except for sour ones, which may alter the taste of the custard.

You can adjust the quantity of dry fruits and fresh fruits as per your liking.

 FAQ

Can the milk be left unattended after adding custard powder?

Not at all! Once the custard powder is mixed into the milk, you must not leave it unattended even for a minute; otherwise, the milk may stick to the pan or burn. Keep stirring it continuously. Similarly, after adding sugar, continue stirring the milk regularly.

To make the custard even creamier, you can add mango or vanilla-flavored ice cream to it.
