How to make besan ka halwa

besan ka halwa

About gram flour pudding recipe

Making besan halwa is very simple, and it also tastes very delicious. Besan is such a food item in Indian kitchens that can be made countless types of sweets and snacks from it. When we talk about sweets, besan ki chakki is something we often see at weddings.

In addition to this, Mohanthal, Mysore Pak, Besan Ladoo, Besan Halwa, Meethi Boondi, Boondi Ke Ladoo, and many more sweets are made from besan. Apart from sweets, famous dishes like Jodhpur’s Mirchi Bada, Gatte ki Sabzi, Patode ki Sabzi, Besan Cheela, and Khaman Dhokla are also prepared using besan. Besan is truly the hero ingredient of our kitchen. If I say this, it would probably not be wrong. And when besan is roasted with ghee, it enhances its flavor even more.

Its taste and fragrance not only spread in our kitchen but also make our entire home smell wonderful. If I talk about myself, I don’t remember ever having besan halwa after my childhood. But while writing this blog today, I made the halwa and ate it. And I found its taste even better than the dal-badam halwa.

All types of halwas have their unique taste. But the besan halwa, which was so quick to make, didn’t seem like it compromised on flavor at all. I felt really good after making it. The recipe I’m sharing with you today, I’m sure you will like it too. Just follow my instructions and make it quickly, then let me know how you liked the besan halwa.

When we buy sweets from the market, there is always a big question in our mind about the freshness and hygiene of the product. Another concern that we always carry with us is that nowadays, everything seems to be adulterated, and we can’t really avoid it. Yes, this is true.

But when you can use the best ingredients at home and provide your family with good health, then why compromise by buying from the market? So, if you liked my recipe, please click on the link below to explore my other recipes.

How to make gram flour pudding

First, heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add besan and suji to the pan and roast them on a low flame until the color changes and a pleasant aroma starts to rise. Once the color changes, add water to the mixture. Stir it until the water is absorbed. Now, add sugar and cook well until the sugar fully  dissolves and blends into the halwa. At this stage, you can add cardamom powder, saffron strands, and cashew pieces. I have only added cashew pieces. When the halwa starts to leave the sides of the pan, turn off the heat. Garnish the hot halwa with a little ghee and chopped pistachios.

Tips

When roasting besan in ghee, do not leave it. Keep stirring it at short intervals. Otherwise, the besan will burn, and the flavor of the halwa will be ruined.

If you prefer you can replace water with milk in besan halwa.

Using semolina (suji) in besan halwa is optional. You can also make the halwa using only gramflour.
